The General Port & the All Weather Terminal (AWT)

Mainly containers, breakbulk cargoes and so called light bulk, such as limestone, are handled in the General Port.

The All Weather Terminal (AWT) is located in the General Port. The AWT of Port of Kokkola is the only terminal in the Nordic Countries where vessels can be loaded and discharged under roof. Mainly containers and breakbulk cargo are handled in the AWT.

In the General Port there is also a terminal, specially designed for light bulk, such as alumina clay and fertilizers, which has efficient equipment for discharging railway wagons and transporters. The terminal can be used for both import and export light bulk.

The warehouse capacity of the General Port is extremely well suited both for breakbulk cargo and for light bulk. The present total covered warehouse area in the General Port is 40,000 m2 (see attached table). The storage field area in the General Port has also been hugely extended during the last years.
